Shocking! Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Was Accused Of Faking Miracles In South Africa

September 09, 2018

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy has been accused by a member of his own church of staging miracle-healing sessions.

According to a report from South Africa, followers have accused the clergy of hiring people to pretend to be sick and disabled. These actors are then healed during his television programs and public prayer meetings.

“I was offered R10 000 to practice and pretend to be in a wheelchair three weeks before the all-night prayer called Night of Bliss at the Johannesburg Stadium,” the report quoted a member of the church.

“The pastor told me that they were looking for people to work for the church. He said that I was going to sit in a wheelchair and be wheeled around while pretending to be physically ill. I would then stand up and walk as soon as Pastor Chris stopped praying for me.

“Even children who are healthy are whisked around in wheelchairs. Some use crutches.

“Everyone is allocated a person who tells the congregation about your background, your specific illness and suffering.

“The pastor then raises his hands and places them maybe on your legs if you cannot walk, and a few seconds later you get up and walk around the room,” the source said.

The source also claimed he called the church to turn down their offer.

“I just told myself that using the word of God to lie to desperate people is immoral, so I refused to take up their offer.”

Also speaking about the pay-for-miracle, another worshiper of the church, said:

“When he started healing people, I did not see him call anyone from the audience.

The source further stated that the people he ‘healed’ came from a certain section of the audience and it looked like he came with them especially for the event.

“I saw a lot of people in wheelchairs leaving the venue who had not been healed. It was very sad.”

Stop Checking Citizens' Account Details - IGP Warns FSARS

September 09, 2018

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has told the operatives of the reformed Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, to desist from checking citizens’ bank account details.

The IGP also warned the FSARS operatives not to search for information in people’s phones and laptops unless they have a court order or an instruction from the commissioner of police in charge of a state police command.

Speaking during the weekend at a workshop on the reformed FSARS in Owerri, Imo state, the IGP warned that any FSARS operatives who violated the new rules would be dismissed from the force immediately.

Ibrahim, who was represented by the Deputy commissioner of police in charge of the IGP’s X-Squad, Amaechi Elumelu, said that any FSARS operative who handles cases not related to armed robbery and kidnapping would equally be dismissed from the Nigeria police force.

He said that under the new era in FSARS, the operatives must be professional and respect the rights and privileges of all citizens.

The IGP recalled that in the past, FSARS was considered the most elitist and professional Unit of the Police force because of its conduct.

He regretted that in the last two years, the Unit had been riddled with allegations of abuse and excesses which made the public to call for its restriction .

He said, “under the reformed FSARS, it is unlawful to search suspects phones, computers, or inquire about their bank account details without proper authorization.

“Henceforth, the FSARS Commanders must get directives from the State Commissioners before invading people’s privacies. Any officer who disobeys will be dismissed.”

The police boss said that all operatives of FSARS would undergo medical screening  in order to guarantee their mental, psychological, emotional conditions.

He advised all FSARS operatives to be computer literate in order to adapt to the current innovations going on in the department.

The police boss warned the operatives not to detain any suspect for more than 48 hours without a remand order from the court.

He also called for the establishment of a medical department in FSARS so as to provide medical assistance to sick suspects.

The FSARS commander in Imo state, Geoffrey Victor, a chief superintendent of police, said that the Unit under his supervision would obey and carry out the IGP’s instructions under the reformed F-SARS to the letter.

"Stop Insulting Buhari"- Federal Government Warns Social Media Users

September 06, 2018

The federal government on Thursday admonished the media to stop denigrating the person of President Muhammadu Buhari through their platforms.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, gave the admonition when he paid advocacy visit to the Abuja office of the “Peoples Daily’’ newspaper to drum support for national campaign against fake news.

Mr Mohammed, who was reacting to a recent editorial published by Punch newspaper, said while the press was free to criticise the president and the administration, such criticism must not be to smear the person of the president.

“There was an editorial in an otherwise respected national daily a few days ago that without any scintilla evidence, they denigrated the person of Mr President.

“Make no mistake about this, the media is free to criticise any President but not to denigrate anybody.

“If you have the facts, please come out. How can anybody say Mr President favoured one group than any other?

“The President of a country, irrespective of the party or tribe which he comes from, is the symbol of the country.

“When you denigrate him, you are denigrating yourself. We therefore want to appeal to the media organisations to desist from this.

“Some of them are consumed by hatred and bitterness that they throw cautions to the winds. This is not healthy either for the media or for the country,’’ he said.

The minister stressed that fake news was beyond publishing what was not true.

“When you hide under editorial to pursue agenda which are driven largely by sentiment, emotion, vengeance and bitterness, it does not augur well for the country,’’ he said.

Mr Mohammed said the issue of herdsmen and farmers clash in Nigeria was largely being driven by fake news.

The minister reiterated that the clash had little or nothing to do with ethnicity and religion; rather a fall out of demography, climate change and in some cases, criminality.

He urged the media to be vigorous and circumspect in looking at the issue before arriving at erroneous conclusion.

Mr Mohammed said fake news was a global issue and each country had different approach to combating it including the UK that was contemplating legislating punitive fines on fake social media reports.

He however reiterated the position of the federal government not to coerce or censor but appeal to the sense of responsibility and patriotism of the media.

The Editor-in-Chief of the Peoples Daily, Hameed Bello, thanked the minister for the visit and gave the assurance of the medium to keep fighting against the menace of fake news.

Whilst many of his fans know that the billionaire father of the singer did not support his dream initially, many are unaware that his father went to some extreme to frustrate the plan of his son whom he tagged unserious at the time.

According to him, his father was extremely angry with him for leaving school to do music, which prompted the arrest of his girlfriend, manager and also his promoter at the show. He evaded the arrest by scaling the fence.

The Yorubas Will Regret, If they Fail To Support Buhari - Fasanmi

September 05, 2018

Senator Ayo Fasanmi, a chieftain of Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere has warned Yoruba groups to stop critiquing President Muhammadu Buhari’s bid for the second term.

Speaking on criticisms by some icon Yoruba leaders, Fasanmi praised  the Buhari administration for fulfilling its manifestation  on corruption and security.

In a statement on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, Fasanmi described the claim that President Buhari is old and weak as “mere emotion that has no relevance in present Nigeria’s political situations”.

He said: “Let me warn some so-called Yoruba groups to desist from the attempt to draft the Yoruba race into unwelcome national opposition and negative narratives on national events by their destructive criticism of President Buhari.

“It has come to our notice that certain groups or tribes have appointed themselves as opposition spokesmen on behalf of the Yoruba nation, as if they were elected to do so. This is not the right thing to do.

“How can a group decide never to see anything good in this government? How can a group decide to pit the Yoruba against a government that has its son as Number Two?

“President Buhari should be  praised for fulfilling his campaign promises with particular references to critical sectors, like security, war against corruption and the economy.

“He has even done much more, particularly in global politics. Nigeria is no more a pariah and a disdained nation where people think a President can be distracted  by a few to make him lose an election.

“On the issue of his (President’s) age, as being canvassed by some groups, that President Buhari should not re-contest, many elderly people are leaders of their countries, such as the United States. Though Buhari has advanced in age, he is still capable and agile to lead Nigeria.

“Many younger people have led this country in the past, yet what is the result? To be old as a leader of government business should not be the issue, but whether or not such a person is delivering the expected services.

“I, therefore, advise the Yoruba nation to seek more relevance with the national government for more infrastructural intervention, more so our sons and daughters are placed in critical positions in the Buhari administration.”

He further praised  former Lagos  Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as well as Chief Bisi Akande, and Otunba Niyi Adebayo for their leadership roles in making the Yoruba more relevant and acceptable in the Buhari administration.

Why We Postponed The Registration Of Voters - INEC

September 01, 2018

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has explained why it ended the Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR) on Friday.

INEC National Commissioner, Solomon Soyebi, told Channels Television that the commission needed ample time to effectively run some preparations ahead of the 2019 general elections.

“We don’t have the time. This registration has been going on for the past six months now and we have given lots of efforts to ensure that a lot of people come on board,” he said in an interview on Thursday.

According to Soyebi, the commission has 150 days stipulated by the law to embark on post-registration activities ahead of next year’s polls.

“We need nothing less than 150 days to do the duplication, production of the cards, the integration and signing of the register before the elections in 2019.

“We listened to the public outcry and extended by two weeks. You recall that we extended it on August 17 this year, that was even the time when we embarked on the 2019 elections by giving out a notice for the process,” he said.
